The SCCI was established in 1997 through the Ratnapura District Integrated Rural Development Program financed by the Royal Government of Netherlands.

The Sabaragamuwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) is the peak commercial and industrial organization in the Sabaragamuwa Province, Sri Lanka. The SCCI is dedicated to supporting Micro, Small to Medium and Large corporate Enterprises (MSMEs) to maximize their potential and to make Sabaragamuwa Province a more productive, globally competitive and economically developed place to live for all.
Our Service Achievements:
- Assisted and promoted nearly 3000 new and existing business establishments.
- Trained nearly 7000 entrepreneurs (in entrepreneurship, management and career guidance).
- Organized trade delegations for our business community in Bangkok, India, Indonesia, China, Malaysia and Singapore, which were attended by nearly 300 entrepreneurs.
- Developed contacts with NISIET – Old India Chamber.
- Organized annual trade promotion and New Technology Development exhibitions (ISURUMAGA) since 1999.
- Establishment of Entrepreneur Development Centre (EDC) and presently converted to the “Business Cell”.
Special Achievements and appreciations
- Received an award- as the Finalist for the 5th Local Chamber Awards, (in Big Chamber Category) from the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) held in Kathmandu 2012.
- Received an award the 1st Runner-Up, Best CSR Project at the Chamber Competition 2008, conducted by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL).
